6th BI-Monthly Trophy Race

A record-breaking 15 keelboaters came out to play during the BTR on 6 Nov 04.

With the race slated to flag off at 1p.m., nerves got shredded as the wind refused to pick up. The committee boat stood forlornly out at sea, but nature remained unmoved. The N over A flags were raised, and the keelboaters returned to shore in anticipation of better weather. Thirst was quenched at the restaurant via lager sponsored by Asia Pacific Breweries*.

At about 4pm, the winds came in, coupled with a light drizzle. Undaunted, the race went as scheduled, with Fusion (skippered by Tan Boon Soon) grabbing 1st place, and Piccanini (powered by Yuen Weng Thye) coming in a close 2nd. In 3rd place was Nepenthe, powered singly by the indomitable Joe Howe.

Drinks and food flowed freely at the post-race party at Copacabana. It was a jolly time, and spirits ran high. There was a lot of back-thumping, and customary ‘down downs’. Any party-poopers/ wrong-doers had to pay back by downing shots of tequila - a rewarding punishment to cap a wonderful day out at sea!

*Many thanks to Asia Pacific Breweries for the continued support.
