CNY GALA DINNER, 24 Feb 07 @ SCH

The inaugural Lunar New Year Gala Dinner transformed the boatshed area in Sembawang Clubhouse into a bright red dining ground adorned with luscious red cloth, gigantic lanterns and spring couplets. The event kicked off with a magnificent procession of majestic lions, towering stilt walkers, gigantic flags and colourful carps. Dinner commenced with over 300 participants tossing their way to prosperity with the ‘Yu-Sheng” and they continued to feast on a 9-course festive dinner featuring dishes like shark's fin, steamed pomfret, stewed delicacies and more.

Lian Yew Lion Dance Troupe brought its tiniest dragon performed by equally tiny lads aged 9 to 13 and the most astounding performance certainly goes to the grand finale performance by the luminous soaring dragons while everyone sat in darkness. During the Lucky Draw Segment, Lady Luck smiled on several tables and 33 individuals who struck gold with ingots and lucky mandarin oranges bestowed on them by the God of Fortune. The three winners of the grand draw walked away with giant ingots weighing 1.2kg!
