Keelboat Race
Held in conjunction with SAFYC’s 40th Anniversary Celebrations

In perfect synchronisation with the indulgent mood of 2 June 2007, the first day of SAFYC’s 40th birthday celebration, the keelboats launched off into gently bobbing waters and light swaying winds. It was more of a lazy ride at the beginning, with participants already taking out their refreshments for their enjoyment aboard. Not that it meant that they were bored, because it was apparent to anyone present that they were thoroughly enjoying themselves, without the usual stress of major regattas.

Indeed, this was a regatta to be relished, a healthy and friendly game among old friends who have turned up to support the occasion. To the good cheers of the jovial sailors, the wind picked up about 45 minutes into the race, prompting the seasoned sailors into action. With the usual suspects leading by a good margin, Angel looked set to clinch the top spot again.

True to expectations, Angel, J Shima and Millenium II managed to secure the top three spots. Special kudos to WYSIWYG for climbing up to claim the fourth spot. All in all, it was good fun for everyone and seeing the buoyant grins on all sailors’ faces, there was no doubt that everybody was a winner that night. Good job, sailors!
